How all has had beginning

On January we met in Turkey to discuss about our project and elaborate all the steps wishing to the approval by each National Agency. Just five days for knowing each others and for working. It isn't easy to work in team if you come from different Countries, way to work and you have to speak in English, not your mother tongue.

I remember my two first days: how many different accents! How good in their English they seemed to me! But, I understood what they said, arranging myself writing, when the listening wasn't so good. We enjoy together and we have been keeping in touch after our travel in Turkey.

Hallo, I'm Valeria, Italian teacher. I teach Science at Scientific high school in Foligno. I'm very happy to start this project: it's my first Comenius. I involved about 40 students, not alls my students. Some of them come from other classes: I know them, but I don't teach to them. About 15 students live in Cascia: also they are involved. During my spare time I like trekking and climbing. Does it like to anybody?

My name is Ciro Babusci and I was born in 18 november1994. I’m an Italian boy.
I’m attending the 4th class of the technology course of high school “G.Marconi” in Foligno.
I study chemistry, physics and biology because my course is a special where I’m study a lot of science. I think that this project can be very interesting and educational not only but also to make friends with boys and girls of other nations and other cultures.

Hi guys, my name is Pablo and I’m Italian. I’m attending the fourth year of scientific technological high school with my fucking school mates. I am interested in Physics, Chemistry and English, but my real passion is volleyball. My name is Alessio Renzini and I was born on 7 march 1994.I’m an Italian boy. I attend the fourth year of high school science and technology G. Marconi Foligno. I’m live in Foligno near Topino river. In my free time I like to create customized programs for windows sometimes dabble in web programming but for now let a little behind these projects to devote to the development of 3D games. I think this project is very useful for both parties, will certainly be a great experience to make friends and to know the world, even from your point of view by putting it in direct account with my.

My name is Nicola Berardi and I was born January 3, 1994, in Foligno.

Hello, my name is Lucia and I'm 17 years. I live with my family in a small town near Assisi called Foligno. In my family there're four people: my mother Rita who is a teacher, my father Rino who is a police man, my brother Andrea who is smaller than me and who is a student and finally.. me!

I'm a student. Fortunally I'm at the second-last year of school. Probably after the school I'm going to study and to live in another town or city, maybe also abroad, because I love travelling, I love knowing different cultures and living with new people and learning a lot of new things.
In my free time, if the weather it's fine, I love going out with my friends, doing a walk in the park, or also playing football. Yeah, I like very much all type of sports; particularly rugby and football.
I love this sports since I was 7 years old because my father loved them :)Well, in my spare time I love also listening to music and playing guitar. My favourite band is a rock English band, called Muse. This summer I have been to London to see them: I enjoyed a lot my self and I think that it was very, very exciting!

I'd like to play in a band but, to be a member of a group, I have to practise a lot my ability.
Finally, one of my favourite hobby is photographing. I love it because, in my opinion, photographing is an art and a language that can make visible an idea.

called Quintana. I don't like go to school so much, but I'm happy to go there, because I love stay with my friends; in fact I'm very

Hi everybody! i'm Sara and i'm 17 years hold,I come from foligno, near assisi in the centre of italy, and i I attend the fourth year of high school G.Marconi Foligno ,where there is a lot of maths!! ( i like it). i love the languages and above all going abroad, in fact i think that i will go to study medicine in another state. i like too muck the music ( i play the guitar) and the sports, i play volleyball but once i've done every kind of sports like football,dance,archery,windsurf........ i hope to enjoy myself, taking part in this project! :D

It's easy: with the languages I can communicate with other and I can discover other cultures that I don’t know, and the chemistry because I think it's the "foundation" of our life. In my free time I like staying with my friends, listening to music and I like very much gossiping! Moreover a thing, that I love with all my self, is... travelling!! Hello everyone! I’ m Valentina Metelli, I’m 17,and me too, I attend the G.Marconi high school in Foligno. Fortunately I’m at the second-last year! Well, I like school in general but I don’t like all these rules, times to respect, judgments and most of all I hate chemistry: the periodic table of elements is one of my worst nightmare! Instead I love English :I’ve always been fascinated by this culture and style of life and I’d like to move to London a day. When I have nothing to do I like to going out with my friends and listening to music, doesn’t matter which is the type. To be honest music is like a drug for me, I’m an I-pod maniac and I believe that life without music is like a movie without soundtrack: boring and forgettable.(I sing too…well…maybe it’s better to say that I try to do it…!) I also love reading; I’m a dreamer and books are a perfect way to escape from reality. I am spontaneous and moody, and I like laugh; I adore it. Every tomorrow is a day I never plan. And than.. About us

My school

My school is situated in a central area of the region called Umbria. Umbria is definied "The green heart of Italy" because it's a central part of Italy and far from the sea. We have different parks, the best important is Sibillini park www.sibillini.net/ . Our students come from different villages around Foligno. My school is a high school where students are introduced to many subjects, humanistics and scientifics. All of the students go to University after the final exam to many Italian towns, even if many of them go to Perugia University, just 40 km from here, www.unipg.it.

At school we try to motivate the students to learn. We have some students from other Countries, Morocco, Albany, central America, not so badly disavantaged in our country. Their contribute is very important for our native students because they can open their minds with different point of view and culture. The theme of the project helps the students to know better their region and to be proud of it.
I think that this project can be an important way to reach their knowledge about our region discovering it trought the others, helping each others. A school partnership like this with foreign schools is an important step towards improving the school community and to change informations. Using English language, that is not native language for my students, permits to improve and to understand the importance of the knowlegde of a foreign language in their private and public life.

our project

The project is proposed for students form to 14th to 18th years old.
The mission of this project is to improve the multicultural understanding, the respect for diversity, and the consciousness of the necessity of sustainable development which include biodiversity and environmental protection. Working with students from other countries gives an opportunity to give some meaning to learn a foreign language.

The goals of this project are to inspire students and teachers to contribute to our global, pluralistic society, and to teach tolerance by recognizing, honoring, and affirming the talents, cultures and individuality of all. The goals are also to raise the point that even if we are from different countries, we do share common needs and objectives. So the differences can bring culturally and educationally valuable elements to each school.

The project shows a concrete and dynamic way in which the power of the modern technology can foster understanding between students from different countries. It offers students (and teachers as well) in every country a unique comparative, cross-cultural approach for gradually constructing knowledge of other values, attitudes, and beliefs, in an ever-widening approach to understanding the foreign culture.

The programme aims to create and develop a partnership among European schools, via educational procedures which lead to the production and exchange of audiovisual messages and the creation of "video museums ". Themes to be explored would be items for preservation expressing students’ own view of their environment, their personal and collective culture.
The project will invite young participants to choose, record and present “items” (Video-Exhibits) which they believe should be preserved from their natural, man-made or social environment.


Motivations
The cultural motivations of the project are:
1.to connect students who come from different cultural backgrounds.
2.to discover that very different countries (language, cultural traditions, religions, ways of thinking) in the history have not only fought with each other, but have also lived together for centuries and have mutually influenced themselves, such as in gastronomy, architecture, culture and language.
3.to mark up how the knowledge of the proper historical and cultural reality is a basic requirement in order to discover and accept the others. Only if we know who we are, we can accept the others as well. A reinterpretation of one’s culture and one’s history in relationship with the cultures of the others, it's a way to accept the others. My culture and my history becomes also a bridge among cultures.

The scientific motivations of the project are:
1. to discover and present the biodiversity of each region,
2. to search examples of actions in favor of environmental protection or sustainable development.

The didactical motivations are:
1. to motivate the students to use new technologies to implement the communication between different parts of Europe,
2. to give pupils the opportunity to interact and reinforce the language skills in real communication situation ,
3. to stimulate through the creation of films which will show the expressive abilities of the students,
4. to stimulate the pupils to be autonomous and proactive.


The concrete objectives of this project are:
-to improve the English language,
-to discover one’s culture and environment and to be able to present it,
-to use new communication tools, by using e-twinning platform and creating a video,
-to create a video that will participate in the construction of a video museum,
-to allow pupils to express themselves as citizens and to be able to criticize what they see.

Depending on the school, different subjects will be studied:
• about cultural heritage in the field of gastronomy, architecture, ceremonies, history, art, etc.
• about landscape preservation, biodiversity, rare species specific to a region, environment preservation.



Our European cooperation should ensure:

1/ For students: to improve the usage of the ICT skills and to practice English language (tool and language of communication); to cause an opening towards the other partners' students, their traditions ; to promote team work; to become aware of European values. In addition, the students will be motivated to move and discover the other European countries.

2/ For teachers : to practice the English language, use and improve their ICT skills. They will develop their ability of working together, of exchanging teaching methods and of gathering the best aspects of each educational systems. They will show the students an example of European cooperation.
